Update on our lives

Hello All... Long time, no talk. Angela and I are on vacation up-north. We just finished a bike tour through the Leelanau Peninsula. We camped two nights and rode three 50-60 mile days; it was fun. Beyond that, we are just hanging out in Traverse City. Also, good news...I may finally be done with school. I received a job offer from Giamarco, Mullins & Horton in Troy, and I anticipate accepting. So we will likely be looking for a house in the Milford/Commerce/Highland area. Hope all is going well, and I will see you all soon. John & Angela

Newton, Iowa Star Date 6-18 10:19 CDT Quality Inn

Well we got a later start than we wanted and didn't get on the road until 10:30. We hit our first trafffiv jam at 11:00 on 23 just South of 96. Stay clear of this area. We had many traffic jams until we got past CHi town. Phil, Sue, Doug...check alternative routes or leave VERY early. Like middle of the night. We are now sitting in the Quality Inn watching Dodge Ball...very funny movie. Had to stop in Newton since my hero Barrack Obama was in town today trying to get the Maytag repair man to vote for him. It will probably be his only votes. We did have a lovely dinner in Princeton IL at Snookerz (all the chicken legs you can eat for 4.95.) Make sure you stop. Sorry no pics tonite.

Rafting?

So... Per Marcus's e-mail of a week or so ago... who is going rafting the day after the wedding?

We are doing a rafting trip Sunday afternoon following the wedding. It will cost $68 per person includes lunch and I will provide beer for after the trip ride home.this will be a blast and a great way to enjoy some of Colorado together. I need at least 10 people to fill 2 boats or more people more boats! I will be sending a trip sign up sheet next everyone that wants to go needs to fill out and send back with credit card info so we can lock this down!

Overall Place: 415 (that's out of more than 20,000 runners folks).

It was his best marathon time ever. He is a super runner man.

Melissa, on the other hand, had an asthma attack and pulled a muscle running through the airport to try (unsuccessfully) to catch a connecting flight in Philly. Sad? Yes.

The case of the missing beer case

We have a mystery on our hands. Seems that a case of beer mysteriousley disappeared from the Groves' garage fridge sometime during or after the party Friday nite. They walked right in and took it. Douglas says he didn't take it so it MUST be someone else. If anyone knows who has the beer please let Aunt Jan know. Seems other beer has been missing from the neighborhood also. Now that you mention it someone stole some beer from the cottage fridge also. So be on the look out and BE AWARE there is a beer thief (that's worse than a horse thief) on the prowl. Until we find the culprit you are all advised to keep your beer under lock and key.

Remember that time when we all went camping in the UP? And there was that lovely beach? And PJ told the guy at the ice cream shop that yes we were from Michigan but no we weren't from down state we actually lived "north of here" even though the only thing north of there was Lake Superior? And I also feel like I remember big jugs of beer? Maybe? And I wore a bathing suit that said "Marlins"? And we have a picture of UJ and UG looking like ogres coming out of the water? I think I was about 15. What was that town/campground/beach CALLED? Anyone? If you help me out you'll ACTUALLY be helping out a wonderful PUBLISHED writer on her next article (see byline above).

Hello All:

Brian Toohy sent me two letters! Very exciting! He is now graduating from Bootcamp on Friday, May 11, 2007. This is very exciting because A. Now I won't miss Mary Lou's big 50th Party at the Tiger Game and B. This is when Lindsey graduates and has her big Fashion show in Chicago. So who wants to go to Chicago with me? Have to go Thursday before, spend Thursday and Friday night, come home Saturday some time. Where are the Groves staying? Great Lakes is north of Chicago about a 1/2 hour drive. Train goes right there. However, Brian can only have four passes to attend graduation and that will be Me, Sarah (the girlfriend), Clark and #4. Brian is going to ask a buddy if they don't use all four of their passes to let us use one or two. He will have from after graduation (11:00 a.m.) to 9:00 p.m. to visit and have fun!

Goodbye Jeep

Sadly the jeep has gone on to its' final resting place in the big junkyard in the sky. I did get to take the winch and a couple other items so if anybody knows of someone who has a Jeep themselves (PJ?) and wants a good deal on a fine winch please let me know. Sarah has also put a bid in on some of the settlement dollars since she claims that she always put gas in the Jeep and therefore was entitled to some of the money from the insurance company. Hmmmm...I'll have to think about that.

Okay...this is some funny shit. Obviously, cycling is a very corrupt sport. ALL pro cyclists dope, even though it is against the rules. And yes, even Lance doped. Anywho, the United States largest stage bike race, a race that has all of the teams that are in the Tour de France, is being sponsored by Amgen. The irony is that Amgen is the largest producer of EPO. EPO is the most prevalent illegal drug taken by cyclists. What the hell is wrong with this sport?????? Does it not even try to portray itself as legitimate anymore? What would happen if a Steroid manufacturer was the primary sponsor of the Super Bowl? Hmmmm.

Birthday Weirdness

So last night I got home and saw flowers sitting outside my door. A big basket of arranged daisies in purple and yellow. Fine. I look at the card and there is no indication of the florist or anything, but it has my address on the envelope, as if it were delivered. The card looks like a high school girl wrote it and it said:

"Christine - I hope you have a nice day off and I hope you like daisy's [sic] too! I know these aren't power tools but I hope you like them anyway. LOL"

Tsai, in a text message, said they weren't from him. Who in God's name sent this to me? Who knows 1. my address, 2. that I like power tools, 3. that I normally take my birthday off?

So, winter has been long and harsh; as such, we bought a foosball table. Yes our apartment is small, but if there is room for twelve bikes, there is room for a foosball table. If anyone wants to play, you are more than welcome; we always have beer!
